COLOMBO : Indonesian Ambassador, Dewi Gustina Tobing hosted a working dinner at her official residence for the Board of Sri Lanka – Indonesia Business Council (SLIBC) headed by Vish Govindasamy, President of SLIBC and Mrs. Shea Wickramasingha, Vice President of SLIBC.
While tasting the delicious cuisine of Indonesia, Ambassador Dewi and the board of SLIBC discussed many topics to strengthen the economic ties between Indonesia and Sri Lanka.
SLIBC has been a key partner for the Embassy that has given continuous support and active contribution for strengthening the relations between both countries particularly in business, trade and investment. Ambassador Dewi reiterated and underlined the importance of SLIBC and invite the Council to work together and have a concrete and integral plan action between the Council and the Embassy.
Ambassador Dewi also mentioned the development and current situation of the bilateral relations between Indonesia and Sri Lanka. In the upcoming days and in line with the prepared launching of the negotiation of Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) between the two countries, it would give a positive impact for increase of trade between the two nations. Ambassador Dewi also informed, that Indonesia will hold Indonesia – South and Central Asia (INA – SCA) Business Forum in Jakarta in October 2024. This Business Forum is poised to be a landmark event, bringing together businesses, entrepreneurs, and officials from Indonesia and the South and Central Asia region. During the INASCA Business Forum the attendees will have the opportunity to: Engage in the Business Panel Discussions, Dynamic business pitching and matching and building a vibrant business hub in networking events.
Govindasamy during the discussion expressed the intention of SLIBC to mount a business delegation visit to Indonesia. This visit will explore new opportunities and explore more networks between Indonesia and Sri Lanka. Having a plan of action would have an integral action between the Indonesian Embassy and SLIBC to obtain an effective result for the benefit of Indonesia and Sri Lanka,he added.
