COLOMBO – Sri Lanka Chapter of World Forum for Sri Lankan Muslims has sent a condolences message to the family members of the father of the village development movement and Sarvodaya founder Dr. A.T.Ariyarartne whose state funeral scheduled to take place at the Independence Square on Saturday,April 20.
Chairman of the Sri Lanka Chapter of World Forum for Sri Lankan Muslim0s, Professor Rasheen Bappu said in his letter to the bereaved family : ” It is with profound sadness that we condole the passing of Dr. A.T. Ariyaratne, Founder of Sarvodaya Shramadana Movement in Sri Lanka, the world’s largest spiritually-based people’s development movement.
Starting his professional life as a school teacher, he became internationally renowned for his exemplary contributions to promoting social and political change through nonviolence. He transformed & navigated the Sri Lankan Civil Society activities to a result-oriented venture.
Dr.Ariyaratne produced many leaders to give life to the society. His yeoman services enriched many lives of Sri Lankan underprivileged individuals in countless ways. His loss leaves a void that can never be filled. Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones.” Rest in peace.”
