President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces has promoted the outgoing Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva to the rank of Admiral with effect from 14th July 2020.Upon being promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral on 01st January 2019, the senior officer assumed command as the 23rd Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy and he was promoted to the rank of Admiral by the President on 14th July 2020 and he was welcomed at the Naval Headquarters according a guard of honour.After having rendered a noble service to the Sri Lanka Navy in particular and the motherland in general, Admiral Piyal De Silva bade farewell to his second home
