COLOMBO: Amidst the prevailing unrest at a time when Sri Lanka is confronted with the vagaries of economic and socio-political instability causing severe blows to livelihoods of the masses, the Muslims pray for strength and national unity on this day of Eid Ul Fitr, ending a month long fast of holy Ramazan.
Despite the continued and humiliating outcry by the people for the ouster of the President and the government for their grievously faulty economic policies leading the country to bankruptcy, they stay on dishonouring the democratic united plea of all ethnic communities in the country.
People remain deprived of supplies of medicines, fuel, food and dollars to pay for basic amenities. The Muslims steadfastly kept their fast and piety amidst such trying times.
We fervently pray on this day for the mercy of the Almighty to alleviate the harsh conditions that the people of Sri Lanka and in all parts of the world face today. Let us also pray for ethnic unity among communities and democratic strength to prevail over.
