COLOMBO : The Zahira College Welfare Society, an integral part of the Board of Governors (BOG), recently initiated a significant project by distributing Ramadan Food Hampers to 100 deserving and less fortunate students on March 24th at the Swimming Pool Complex.
Under the patronage of Mr. Triizvy Marikkar, the Principal, this endeavor aimed to alleviate the hardships faced by students during the holy month of Ramadan. Over the past three years, the Welfare Society has steadfastly distributed food hampers, showcasing its unwavering commitment to providing essential support to students in need.
This annual effort underscores the Society’s dedication to nurturing a sense of community and compassion within Zahira College. By extending aid to those grappling with economic challenges, the Welfare Society continues to uphold the values of empathy and solidarity, ensuring all students can observe Ramadan with dignity and peace of mind.
The commendable Ramadan Food Hampers project was admirably overseen by Moulavi Ansar Ariff, the Secretary of the Zahira College Welfare Society, in collaboration with a dedicated team of members. This team included Dr. Hafiz Rajudin, President of the Welfare Society, Mr. M. U. Azmi, Mr. Thufail Farook, and Mr. M. H. M. Falul. Their concerted efforts ensured the success and impact of this initiative. Their meticulous handling ensured the seamless distribution of aid to deserving students, reflecting the Society’s commitment to compassionate service.
Furthermore, the Zahira College Welfare Society successfully organized its annual “Iftar Programme” on March 23rd at the Swimming Pool Complex, under the Chairmanship of Hazzik Jaleel. This event serves a paramount purpose in fostering bonds of fellowship and camaraderie among former Zahirains and non-Zahirians alike.
Distinguished guests, among them Triizvy Marikkar, the Principal, Fouzul Hameed, the Chairman of the Board of Governors (BOG), Alavi Mukthar, the BOG Secretary, M.S.M. Niyas, the BOG Treasurer, A.S.M. Muzammil, a senior BOG member, along with other former BOG members such as Mr. Azmi, . Sanoon, . N.M. Shiraz, the President of the OBA, and . Jaufer Us Sadiq, the Secretary of the OBA Affiliated Bodies, graced the occasion, highlighting its significance within the Zahira College community
