WC T20I SUPER12:  Drama in the last ball – Bangladesh victorious by 3 runs against Zimbabwe

BRISBANE: Bangladesh won by 3 runs in a last ball thriller against Zimbabwe to pick up two valuable points in the Super 12 encounter concluded short while ago at the Gabba , Brisbane.

Zimbabwe needing 4 runs to win in the last ball, Richard Nagarva was stumped out by Bangladeshi wicket keeper Nurul Hasan and Bangladesh were declared winners. However the third umpire issued his decision that the wicket keeper took the ball before the stumps and therefor it was declared a no ball. The batsmen and the fielding team who had walked out of the grounds was called back to play. Mossadek Hossain had to bowl another ball with  Zimbabwe needing 3 runs to win. Hossain’s bowling was too good and the batsman Nagarva was stumped again by Hasan but this time it was an authentic wicket. Bangladesh won by 3 runs by restricting Zimbabwe 147 for 8 wickets in 20 overs.

Bangladesh now stands at the second rank (with 4 points) in the points table while India lead with 4 points and positive run rate. There are two other Group 2 matches today where Netherlands will face Pakistan (12.30 pm) and India will be up against South Africa (4.30 pm). Netherlands won the toss and has chosen to bat first against Pakistan in Perth short while ago.
