COLOMBO :Captain Truong Quoc Bao and the Vietnamese team both expressed confidence after the draw results for the Davis Cup group 3 in the Asia-Pacific region, which will kick off from July 26.
Vietnam team has 5 members: Captain Truong Quoc Bao, Pham Minh Tuan, Vu Ha Minh Duc, Nguyen Dac Tien, Nguyen Van Phuong.
The results of the draw for the Davis Cup World Group 3 in the Asia Pacific region 2023 in Sri Lanka put the Vietnam (world no.73) in Group A along with teams from Saudi Arabia (World no.82), Iran (world no. 83) and the host country Sri Lanka (world no.90).
Group B has 4 teams including: Pacific Oceania (world no.74), Jordan (world no.77), Malaysia (world no.87), Cambodia (world no.92).
At the end of the Davis Cup Asia-Pacific Group 3 tournament in 2023, 3 teams will be promoted to the 2024 world play-off Group 2; 3 teams will remain in Group 3 and 2 teams will be relegated to Group 4 in 2024.
The specific schedule of Vietnam as follows: July 26 Vietnam – Iran, July 27 Vietnam – Sri Lanka, July 28 Vietnam – Saudi Arabia. On July 29, there will be play-off matches to find teams participating in the play-offs of Group 2, teams remaining in Group 3 and teams relegating to Group 4.”
