COLOMBO : The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Colombo promoted a virtual meeting between the World Logistics Passport (WLP), which is the world’s first freight loyalty program launched by the Government of Dubai, and relevant key government and private entities in Sri Lanka to discuss ways of cooperation towards strengthening economic and trade relations between the two countries.

The Sri Lanka Customs, Sri Lanka Ports Authority, Export Development Board, The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Board of Investment, Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Ltd. and the Sri Lanka Logistics and Freight Forwarders Association participated in this event.

The WLP initiative is a trade catalyzer aimed at boosting global trade by means of facilitating the exchange of trade benefits and services, promising increased competitiveness and economic resilience during a time of unprecedented uncertainty. WLP provides its members three core advantages, namely increase in efficiency, reduction in costs and outreach opportunities.

Having established 15 Hubs in 14 countries, with 42 Partners and 128 Benefits confirmed across the globe, the WLP is now focusing on Sri Lanka to reach out to relevant Partners who may be able to provide benefits and coordinate members towards establishing the Sri Lanka Hub.

As a fast-growing and vibrant trade and logistics hub in the South Asian region, Sri Lanka could be poised to gain enormous benefits from this loyalty program.
