COLOMBO : A delegation from the United Arab Emirates, headed by H.E. Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the General Civil Aviation Authority of UAE, visited Sri Lanka and held a round of talks with their counterparts, the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka, in Colombo.
A Memorandum of Understanding between the United Arab Emirates and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka was signed with the aim of strengthening bilateral relations in the field of civil aviation. The MoU provides for opening of air spaces and lifting restrictions on the national carriers of the two countries, including the exercise of the Freedoms of the Air.
The event was attended by H.E. Khaled Nasser AlAmiri, Ambassador of UAE in Colombo and officials representing the local civil aviation authorities and national carriers of both countries.
