COLOMBO: As the death toll in Turkiye is soaring to more than 2,500, Sri Lanka has offered Search and Rescue assistance to Turkiye at this tragic moment.
Forieign Minister Ali Sabry has offered to give such assistance to Turkiye in times of need. Minister Sabry has contacted the Turkiye Foreign Minister Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and told him that Sri Lanka is ready to offer manpower for Turkiye’s Search and Rescue operations in these trying times.
Sabry told Colombo Times that this assistance is being offered on the instructions of President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
“ We recall when the Tsunami struck us in 2004,Türkiye provided immediate humanitarian assistance and built a housing complex for those who lost their houses,” Minister Sabry said.
