GAMPOLA: The Traveller Global (Pvt) Ltd in association with the Gampola local government body has organized the MAYORS CUP this year.
The Mayors Cup Tournament will kick off on Sunday, December 4. .Samantha Aruna Kumara a keen supporter of local football has been responsible for making this idea a reality. Kumara has been with The Traveller from its inception of The Traveller football academy. The Traveller global (pvt) Ltd and and Kumara aim at social integration, peaceful coexistence and football development in Gampola. The MAYORS Cup Tournament will have 15 clubs taking part.
The price money is set at Rs.250,000 for the winner and Rs.150,000 for runner-up and many awards are organized including best player and best goal keeper.
With the Football World cup in full swing, everyone seems hooked to media devices following the matches very attentively. The upsets and the shocks have been most thrilling to viewers.
“ We love the story of David vs Goliath, this has been the case in many matches at the 2022 world cup. We as a nation, Sri Lanka is capable of great achievements on and off the field. We hope that the next generation get the best support and guidance to make an impact at the international stage,” Chairman of the Traveller Global and football enthusiast enthusiast Rizmi Reyal told Colombo Times in a special statement on Sunday
