NEGOMBO- Retail shops in Negombo and Kochikade will be closed to curb the rapid spread of the Covid virus in the island.
According to a spokesman from the Negombo Traders Association, the temporary closure which will be enforced for a week will help people control the disease.
Mayor of Negombo Dayan Lansa told Colombo Times that the members of the Negombo Traders Assocation to apprise the Negombo Municipal Council,NMC, of the current Covid situation and they were told of the total number of victims and new cases in Kochikade and Negombo areas.
“ So we all decided to cooperate with the government to keep the shops closed for a period of one week to control the death and rising number of new cases due to the pandemic.
