The news item that caught my eyes !

S.H.MOULANA

RIYADH

I was so pleased to read that Sri Lanka is to send 400 nurses to Singapore soon.Last week I received a telephone call from a very close friend of mine saying that one of my closest friends, Khadim Hussain, has been warded at  National Care Hospital in Riyadh. I wasted no time in rushing with my son to the ward  where his room was situated. Apart from the doctors in attendance.there were two smart Indian nurses. Seeing them it reminded me of an old saying; ‘Good nurses are blessings in disguise” Anyway for me they looked much more than that. Even the patient admitted ‘it is home away from home’ to him. On enquiring they politely told me their names,Sadhya John and Dhana Packiam. In the past we saw only Filipino nurses in every hospital but now the Indian nurses too catching up that number.

We wish the Sri Lankan government will explore opportunities in  Saudi Arabia for qualified Sri Lankan nurses.in the caliber of Sadhya and Dhana. We hope the new ambassador will do the needful.
