COLOMBO : The Management & Science University (MSU) Colombo Alumni chapter, in collaboration with the Doctoral students, hosted its eagerly awaited annual seminar on July 22, 2023. The event aimed to benefit students while recognizing the remarkable achievements of esteemed Alumni members, in alignment with the university’s overarching goals.
Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid, President of Management & Science University (MSU) Malaysia, and Management & Science Institute Colombo, the seminar took place at Galadari Hotel, Colombo. Distinguished guests and attendees had the privilege of witnessing the keynote speech by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Shukri, President of MSU & MSI, as he delves into the topic of “Strategic Business Planning after the COVID-19 Pandemic.”
As a concurrent event, the Alumni members and students from Management & Science University (MSU), Colombo, along with the support of MSU’s main campus in Malaysia, also participated in a Tree Planting campaign at Vihara Mahadevi Park, Colombo. This environmental initiative reflected the university’s commitment to sustainability and community engagement.
Moreover, the seminar provided a perfect platform for felicitating accomplished Alumni members who had attained their Doctoral degrees from MSU and gone on to become esteemed Professors. The recipients of the Academic Excellence Awards 2023 at the event, were Prof. Dr. Harendra N. Kariyawasam, Prof. Dr. Kaldeen Mohemed Mubarak, Prof. Dr. Sudath Manjula Amarasena, Prof. Dr. Rangana Sri Shalika, Prof. Dr. Thakshila Kumari, Prof. Dr. Sujith Shyaman Udayanga, and Prof. Dr. Gamini Hemakumara.
Recognizing excellence beyond the university, the conference will also honor outstanding professionals in the industry. Dr. Kingsley Bernard, Chair of EDB, and Dr. Sumith De Silva are recipients of the Excellence in Industry Professionalism Award 2023, acknowledging their remarkable contributions.
MSU continues to receive accolades, and the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MOHE) has rated it as a SETARA Tier-5 Excellent Status for Emerging University, further solidifying its standing as the Most Entrepreneurial Private University in Malaysia.
This annual event, organized by the Alumni members and PhD (post graduate) students, celebrates both academic accomplishments and the university’s dedication to sustainability and excellence in various fields. The Management & Science University (MSU) Colombo chapter continues to foster a sense of pride among its students and members while actively contributing to society and the environment.
