COLOMBO: The Supreme Court refused to grant leave on Tuesday to proceed with eight Fundamental Rights petitions filed challenging the dissolution of parliament and holding the Election on June 20.
The Supreme Court five-judge-bench headed by Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya made this announcement before a packed court room on Tuesday.
The petitions were taken up before Supreme Court five-judge-bench comprising Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya, Justices Buwaneka Aluwihare, Justice Sisira de Abrew, Justice Priyantha Jayawardena and Justice Vijith Malalgoda for ten consecutive days.
