Deforestation – Solution in 3 R’s

What is deforestation?

Deforestation is to cut down trees which reduces the forest area.

Why do people cut down trees?

·      Tree trunks are used to make furniture and houses.

·      Trees are cut down to make paper.

·      For agriculture purposes.

·      For urban development, that is to make new roads and buildings.

How does deforestation harm the environment?

Cutting down trees destroys the homes of animals and make it difficult for them to find food. This makes them endangered.

Trees help to absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen into the air. When trees are cut down, more carbon dioxide will remain in the atmosphere, this leads to global warming and climate change.

How  do we solve this problem?

·      Plant more trees and encourage others to plant trees.

·      3 ‘R’s

REDUCE-instead of using paper we can use other methods like sending email rather than writing a letter on paper.

REUSE-Use reusable products than ‘use and throw’ products.

RECYCLE-Try to recycle paper and wood products.
