COLOMBO — The 15th Session of the Sri Lanka Model United Nations, SLMUN, 2022 was held at the BMICH, Colombo Saturday, Sept,17 .
SLMUN has been the primary Model UN platform for Sri Lanka and South Asian students for more than a decade and this year 700 youths from around the country were participated.
Charge ’d’ affairs Rohan Ellawala and chief guest Chairman Rotaract District 3220 Committee for Sri Lanka and Maldives Marshad Barry addressed the gathering.
The SLMUN was established on 24 October 1945 after World War II. The first Model United Nations conference was held in 1949 in the United States of America. Over the years, MUN has evolved and become a key factor in gathering and educating youth about global issues in many countries. Established in 2008, SLMUN is the primary simulation of the United Nations conference in Sri Lanka, and is the pioneer of any UN related programmes in the country.
