Sri Lankan Hajj delegation arrives in Jeddah

COLOMBO : Sri Lankan Hajj delegation headed by Environment Minister Hafiz Naseer Ahamed reached Jeddah on June 3.

According to the director of Muslim,Religious and Cultural Affair Ibrahim Sahib Ansar, the other two members of the delegation include Marjan Faleel MP and Ahkam Uwais, chairman of the Sri Lanka Hajj Committee.
On arrival in Jeddah, the delegation was received by Lankan ambassador in Saudi Arabia, Packeer Amsa and the Consul General Falah Mowlana.

Minister Ahamed said the Muslim community is thankful to government and the concerned minister Vidura Wickremanayake for their support and assistance to make this year’s pilgrimage a reality during the current economic crisis Sri Lanka is facing. H said Lankan Muslims are going for Hajj this year after a lapse of two years due to the pandemic.

Thanking the Saudi government for the great services rendered during the Hajj season for the millions of pilgrims who visit the two holy cities every year. Ahamed said the three members of the delegations bore their own pilgrimage expenses including their own. (Pix taken by our Colombo Times correspondent in Jeddah)
