RIYADH : A Three- day Vesak Celebration was launched in Riyadh on Thursday, May 4 at the Sri Lankan embassy premises.
The event was organized by the Lankan mission in collaboration with Sri Lanka Cultural Club and Riyadh Buddhist Association commenced with the hoisting of of Buddhist Flag by the Lankan Ambassador P M Amza.
The mission was illuminated with thorana and lanterns. A Perehara was also organised by the community comprising children which stole the show.
The 2nd Day Vesak Celebrations was held with the international participation. Diplomats from several countries graced the celebrations held at the embassy premises.
Celebrations included Bhakthi Gee ,cultural performance, blood donation and Dansala
“Lord Buddha’s teaching of middle way is base for multilateralism, his teaching of ‘disarmament of mind’is base for peace and advise for harmony is base for compromise; the essential tools for diplomacy and international peace,“ said ambassador .
