Speaking on the occasion, Mowlana said : “ We are delighted that you are attending today’s Launching Ceremony of the Tourism Promotional Window of the “Welcome to Sri Lanka”, A Paradisiacal Experience on the earth.

Today we have commenced issuing visa at the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Jeddah.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has always been our all-weather friend while extending their support continuously and consistently to develop my country in all significant areas and aspects. When it comes to travel and tourism, we have maintained a very successful collaboration and mutual understanding to ensure the best for our travellers on each other’s soil.

Therefore, it is with immense pleasure; I invite the travel agents of KSA and their valuable customers to explore my beautiful country while enjoying the best hospitality we can offer.

As a tourism-oriented nation, we are proud to offer a highly diversified experience for your travellers. Ours may be a small island in the Indian Ocean, but there is a world of excitement at every step. We have historical attractions contemporary to the Greek and Roman civilizations.

In this charming countryside, you can witness our fascinating culture and very scenic destinations to hide away and take that break you deserve.

Remember that we have a diverse geography resulting in different climate zones that will give you a dynamic travel experience. The misty mountains with a cool climate are just a few hours away from the hot and sunny coast.

We take advantage of fun and adventure, too. We have a blue ocean and a golden coast around the country where you can just relax or try various water sports and adventures.

The wildlife is exciting, and our safaris are full of surprises for kids and adults alike. We have excellent destinations for tracking, mountaineering and white water rafting, which have moderately designed activities that are suitable for families with kids, too.

We also have unique activities like whale watching, bird watching and coral surfing, which will add more shades to your holiday.

We have a high potential for medical tourism, including western and indigenous medicine. It is because we have sophisticated tertiary and quaternary care hospitals that offer comprehensive healthcare at very affordable rates. In addition, we are a country that provides medical and nursing education accessible for the selected students, owing to which we have a highly competent medical and healthcare workforce. Not to forget that our indigenous medicine, which includes Yunani, Ayurveda and Siddha branches, are very effective in treating certain illnesses that are challenging for western medicine.

We also especially focus on eco-tourism as a country committed to achieving sustainable development. We have eco properties, attractions and activities that will help you authentically connect with the destination and its community rather than just being a spectator. You can explore our nature, agriculture, authentic lifestyle, vibrant culture and delicious cuisines.

I would also like to tell you how welcoming and inclusive our culture is, as Sri Lankans are known across the globe as a smiling nation. We share mutual respect and affection with our guests while honouring different cultures and values. We are a family-friendly destination where you can enjoy safely with your children, as our helpful citizens would go out of their way to help you when needed. Perhaps of all the treasures of our island nation, its people are the most precious.

For your kind information, the very first human being was our beloved father, Seyyiduna Hazrath Adam AWS, who was descended from heaven to the world, specifically to Sri Lanka and also known as Sailan and Serendib. You can see the sacred footprint of Seyyiduna Hazrath Adam AWS on a huge mountain called Adam’s Peak or Sri Pada. It is a 7,359 ft tall conical mountain located in central Sri Lanka.

Finally, I would like to assure you again of our government’s commitment to giving your travellers a safe and memorable experience. We also remind you that we are ready to assist you with all the expertise and resources we have to promote Sri Lanka as a tourist destination.

So, feel free to reach out, and you may obtain your tourist visa from this Consulate, Mowlana concluded.
