COLOMBO — Sri Lanka Islamic Center had organized a on an felicitation ceremony at Ambassador Designate to Saudi Arabia Ameer Ajward at the Movenpick Hotel, Colombo on Saturday March 30.
It was held under the patronage of Chairman of the Islamic Center Hussain Mohamed.
Dr. Ruvaiz Haniffa Treasurer of the Islamic Center remembered the former Ambassadors Hussain Mohamed and Faisz Musthapha’s yeoman services to Sri Lanka during their tenure . Also mentioned about Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka Islamic Center longstsnding relationship and he requested Ameer Ajward consider the Islamic Education for Sri Lankan Students.
Ambassador Designate to Saudi Arabia Ameer Ajward thanked the Islamic Center Chairman and Board of Directors for organizing the felicitation ceremony. He recalled the International Conference organized by Islamic Center in 1993. Also said Saudi -Sri Lanka relationship cannot be forgotten and prayed for the late founder of the Islamic Center M.H. Mohamed’s services.
Former Parliamentarian Mujeebur Rahuman along with Secretary of the Center Shahul Hameed Mohamed, Board of Directors Faisz Musthapha PC, A. S. M. Muzammil, Fazal Hameed, M.R. Latheef, Saleem Marsoof PC, Mohideen Cader and Moulavi M.B.M. Zarook were also present.
Ameer Ajward presented his book “Sri Lanka-Oman Relations Past, Present and Future” to the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Islamic Center at this ceremony.
