COLOMBO : We are very keen to support Cricket and other sports at this hard period while we are expected to continue our support to cricket said Nemantha Abeysinghe General Manger of Nippon Paints Lanka (Pvt) Ltd at the press briefing to announce Nippon as title sponsor of the ongoing Zimbabwe cricket series.
Nippon Paints GM further said we know this is a dark period for our country as well as all sports are suffering more difficulties and we are very ready to give Nippon Paints support as sponsor. Most of the Sports have lot of difficulties and we want to offer our generous sponsorship for them he said.
SLC Secretary (acting) Chryshantha Kapuwatte speaking at the press briefing after Sunday’s T20 game pointed out today SLC is doing great job to promote cricket. We knew today social media has started campaign to tarnish image of Sri Lanka Cricket and our National cricketers do not follow social media. We always want to popularize this sport not only in Colombo but also outstation areas.
Actually we had an idea to play few Zimbabwe matches at outstation venues like Dambulla and Pallekele but due to some construction work we had to change our plan. we already planned to play Afganistan T- 20 matches at Dambulla with its newly introduced light system and hope to draw more crowds added SLC acting Secretary Kapuwatte who was a former St Anne’s Kurunegala cricketer.
We have a new selection Committees and new coaches. When Daily News asked about change of the High Performance Unit Head and idea to appoint Jerome Jayaratne the present SLC Chief Operations Manager, SLC secretary said yes we have an idea but that authority not from us.
