Skipper Shanaka’s brilliance allows Lanka to level series

PUNE: Sri Lanka beat India by 16 runs with Captain Dasun Shanaka excelling in both bat and ball to ensure Sri Lanka levels the T 20i series, short while ago in Pune.

Sri Lanka batting first posted the highest score in the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium by posting 206 runs for six wickets. Captain Dasun Shanaka showed his superiority in T20i against the Indian bowling attack by scoring a quick fire unbeaten 56 off 22 balls to see Sri Lanka go past the 200 runs mark. Umran Malik picked up 3 for 48 runs while Axar Patel picked up 2 for 24 runs.

Kasun Rajitha & Dilshan Madushanka commenced a fiery spell that had India reeling at 34 runs for 4 wickets. However, S. Yadav (51 runs off 36 balls) and Axar Patel consolidated the innings along with Shivam Mavi.  K Rajitha picked up 2 wickets  for 22 runs while Madushanka picked up 2 wickets for 45 runs. Axar Patel batted brilliantly to bring India  to the final over needing 20 runs in the last over with 4 wickets in hand. Dasun Shanaka bowled the last over and picked up Patel for 65 runs for 31 balls. Shanaka picked up Shivam Mavi for 26 runs to seal the Lankan victory.
