SEQUEL’s the place agog with night life

Cinnamon Grand hotel in their characteristic ‘grand’ style opened up Sequel, with an entirely new look. The ambiance created in keeping with the trends, has set the place agog with the most creative & exotic concoctions being served around while the live band in attendance in the background, plays the best of renditions.

Night life is beginning to come alive in the city. Slowly and steadily the city hotels are wakening up to the life of leisure & entertainment at dusk it thrived on before. Cinnamon Grand was determined to ensure that they come up with a novel experience for their guests who will want to unwind for the evening and thus Sequel was created to be just that- which now could easily be identified as one of a kind.

Area Vice President Cinnamon Hotels, Kamal Munasinghe is leading from the front to ensure that the service at Sequel is to precision. He was there on ground at the official opening to welcome the guests and announced that Cinnamon Grand is all set for the discerning guest to serve from dawn to dusk from all fronts and cater to any aspect of hospitality expected from a Star class hotel.

The Sequel’s evening’s flow of cocktails had an exceptional line up. We had Meuru and Sam of Sequel on hand serving to give us all the information needed on the array of colorful concoctions placed before us for tasting.
I was privileged to be in the company of a handful of my veteran Journalist colleagues, all invitees for this special occasion and a former hotelier accompanying me as my guest, in place of my own photographer, forming a merry circle that made up to be the delightful cocktail tasters of the evening and joyfully described to me the extensive and exotic range that was on offer.

We will feature just a few of the picks of the fabulous concoctions in the line -up and of course many bites and side dishes.

What could be described as the ‘best of the pink’, going by colour of course, was the ‘Summertime’ with cotton Candy on top, which topped as the ‘must try’ of those present. The same was served in powder blue. The pastel shaded mock-tails were quite the rage. The one named ‘Unforgettable’ lived up to the name with a cherry topping. This was described as mild and appeared to be the firm favourite among the ladies. ‘Fly Me to the Moon’-a smoked cocktail, was what was recommended by Sam of Sequel.

The bites served were also of quite a variety. My favourite of the dishes was the seafood bites, among them the ‘Peri Peri Prawns’, Sea Bass Croquette. The guys opted for the ‘Smoked Jamaican Jerk Chicken’. The mini ‘jalapeno lamb slam’ with meat toppings were also a hot favourite, and served as accompaniments for those who opted for the stronger spirits and liquors that were available in all variants and mixers. Sequel’s ‘Twisted Negroni” was considered the best of the signature cocktails that Meuru and Sam of Sequel recommend.

With the hours ticking by, the Cocktail Counter got so busy and the dance floor was filled, The Sequel, armed with its super menu was doing the talking to keep the patronizes swinging to the beat of the music. One could feel the ambiance of the Sequel was ablaze with the place lit for the occasion that gave a feel for the guests, leaving no doubt that it is most certainly, one of a kind.
