“Saudi Arabia’s funding of more than $6 billion demonstrates its desire to address global water supply challenges.”
HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister reportedly declared that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is establishing a Global Water Organization, with its headquarters in Riyadh. This was according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia established the organization to highlight its commitment to fixing issues with the world’s water supply. The program complements Saudi Arabia’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
In order to secure global water responsibly, the organization attempts to integrate and improve the efforts made by governments and other organizations. It intends to share expertise, enhance technology, encourage innovation, and share research and development experiences. Additionally, it would encourage the creation and funding of high-priority projects, ensuring the sustainability of world water resources and ensuring everyone has access to them.
Saudi Arabia has made considerable advancements in the production, delivery, and distribution of water throughout the years by utilizing locally created creative solutions. These accomplishments have received recognition on a global scale. Additionally, the kingdom has a significant impact on keeping the subject of global water security at the top of the international agenda. The Kingdom’s development money, which has more than $6 billion earmarked for diverse water and sanitation projects across four continents, serves as more proof of this.
This organization wants to work with nations who are prioritizing water-related initiatives on their national agendas and those that are suffering water-related issues. Countries with considerable experience and contributions to water solutions will also be a part of this collaboration. With estimates that the world’s water demand will double by 2050 and an estimated 9.8 billion people on the planet, such cooperation is even more important.
Together with all the organization’s member nations Saudi aims to help achieve the sustainable development goals connected to water security, fostering an integrated and long-lasting impact by bringing the international community together to guarantee global water sustainability for humanity.
