Riyadh:B20 Saudi Arabia will kick-start its representation of the business voice to the G20 at an Inception Event scheduled from 15-17 January 2020 in Riyadh.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia assumed the G20 Presidency on 1 December 2019, leading up to the Leaders’ Summit in Riyadh on 21-22 November, 2020. The Business Twenty (B20) is the official G20 dialogue with the business community. As the voice of the private sector to the G20, it represents the global business community across all G20 member states and all economic sectors. Formed in 2010, it is the first engagement group of the G20.
Mr. Yousef Al Benyan – Chair of B20 Saudi Arabiasaid, “B20 Saudi Arabia is committed to be inclusive and impactful with a unique and differentiated approach. This will help ensure that policy recommendations factor in the needs of the future for diverse businesses irrespective of the size – including SMEs and startups – and geographies.”
Commenting on the B20 key priority areas – Digitalization; Energy, Sustainability & Climate; Finance & Infrastructure; Trade and Investment; Integrity & Compliance; and Future of Work and Education, Mr. Al Benyan said, “This is an excellent opportunity for the local and global business community to share best practices in these important areas that are not only key to growth but also beneficial to the community. By addressing these priority areas, and identifying and implementing potential solutions to achieve our goals, we could very well set examples of how to improve business operations and make them more efficient.”
B20 Saudi Arabia will work under the theme ‘Transforming for Inclusive Growth’. The signature topic of B20 Saudi Arabia is ‘Women in Business’. B20 Saudi Arabia’s key priority will be focused through a dedicated Action Council for Women in Business – a first of its kind initiative that is committed to increasing women’s participation in business.
In addition, two cross-cutting themes will be addressed by all the taskforces, these areSMEs and Entrepreneurship, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The three-day Inception Event will kick-start the B20 Saudi Arabia presidency in presence of more than 400 global business leaders. The event will also see globally renowned thought leaders and visionaries of the business world take positions as speakers and panelists.
B20 Saudi Arabia aims to deliver an impactful and differentiated policy development process, while reinforcing and sustaining the critical role of the global business community. To deliver on this, B20 Saudi Arabia will follow the strategic principles by developing action-oriented and impactful policy recommendations, through an inclusive, collaborative and transparent approach, and adopting highest professional standards.
