COLOMBO- Large number of Sathosa customers went disappointed when they were told in the afternoon that the stocks of sugar were sold out by noon.
State Minister of Co-operative Services, Marketing Development and Consumer Protection Lasantha Alagiyawanna told newsmen here on Wednesday, Sept 1,that the government intends provide essential products, especially rice and sugar, to the consumers at reasonable prices.
Speaking further, the state minister said the large volumes of sugar seized stashed away in warehouses will be sold through Sathosa and Co-operative outlets.
In the meantime, one kilogram of brown sugar was sold for Rs. 130 through these outlets from Wednesday, he added.However, the Sathosa Manager at Maligawatte told Colombo Times that the first stock was over in the morning and they were waiting for the second stock to come in the afternoon
