RIYADH : The Sri Lankan community hosted a fitting farewell to Acting Sri Lankan Ambassador in Saudi Arabia, Madhuka Wickramarachchi in Riyadh on Thursday June 17.
Wickramarachchi served the Sri Lanka Mission in Riyadh as the deputy chief of the mission for more than three years, out of which nearly a period of one and a half years, he discharged his duties as the acting Ambassador following the departure of former Ambassador Azmi Thassim. He will be leaving the Kingdom shortly.
On behalf of their faiths, leaders of the Muslim, Sinhalese, Hindu and Christian communities presented mementos to the guest in appreciation of his services.
The proceedings of the farewell were chaired by Nihal Gamage, President of the Sri Lanka Cultural Forum, which is part of the Sri Lanka mission’s Cultural Wing.
The event held at the Holiday Inn Hotel was limited to restricted number of attendees because of the health guidelines under the Covid Control Programme of Saudi Arabia.
