COLOMBO: Public servants except those in the essential services have been asked to stay at home on Friday, May 20 due to transport problems as a result of the fuel shortage in the country.
Speaking at the parliament, prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe told the house that the government understands the transport problems caused by the fuel shortage, therefore, he said: “ They need not ome to office on Friday but attendance is mandatory for those who are attached to essential services.”
He also announced that his cabinet of ministers have decided to forego their salaries for the month of May considering the current financial crisis faced by the people.
