According to a statement made by Premadasa at the parliament on Wednesday , Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena has informed Party Leaders that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is prepared to resign if all party leaders together request him to do so.
Addressing the Parliament, MP Premadasa informed the Speaker that the party leaders were willing to do so.
He further called on the Speaker to provide an opportunity to convey their request to the President.
The opposition leader also commented on the shooting incident that had taken place in Rambukkana yesterday, in which one protester had died and many others were injured.
MP Sajith Premadasa said the opposition rejects the Police- level investigations to be conducted into the incident. He said : “ we don’t want kangaroo court ‘
He further said the incident must be investigated by an investigation board that consists of Supreme Court judges, and not any institution under the incumbent Government.
