COLOMBO: Colombo court remanded former Minister and parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen till October 5.
Colombo Fort Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage remanded MP Bathiudeen until October 5 when the case was taken up before him on Tuesday,Sept,21.
Former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen’s lawyers had filed a petition seeking his release on bail.
The former was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) under the Prevention of Terrorism Act on suspicion of involvement in the Easter Sunday terror attack.
The CID officers told court o Tuesday that they could not seek the assistance of a State Counsel due to the current situation in the country and requested the court to give another date to submit facts with the assistance of a State Counsel.
Accordingly, the Magistrate agreed for a postponement of the case for October 05 and directed the CID to definitely make submissions on that day.
