COLOMBO!!The Pakistan High Commission Colombo on behalf of the Government of Pakistan sponsored the rugby tournaments on district level especially during the times when those districts were facing hardships in supporting their brilliant players.
This sponsorship came under the program of bringing the youths of both friendly countries together through promoting sports in the region.
A total of eight women teams participated in the last tournament. Earlier three tournaments took place in Kandy, Galle and Colombo. Final round out of total four rugby matches took place at Thurstan College grounds Colombo. Jayawardenapura University Women’s Rugby team became Cup Champions, Kothalawela Defense University Women’s Rugby team became Runners Up and Sabaragamuwa University Women’s Rugby team wins the Third place at the Inter University Women’s Development Tag Rugby Tournament concluded Sunday at the Thurstan Grounds, Colombo 7.
