COLOMBO : A one-minute silence was observed before the commencement of the game in the 01st T20 International between India and Sri Lanka in Colombo, as a mark of respect to late R. Rajamahendran, the Chairman of the Capital Maharaja Group who passed away on Sunday July 25.
He was also regarded as a pioneer in Sri Lankan cricket team gaining official international test status as well as full member status in 1981 from the International Cricket Council . He had also made arrangements in obtaining the services of former English cricketer Ted Dexter as a professional advisor to the Sri Lankan cricket team for the historical one-off test match against England at Lord’s in 1984.
