Wheat flour up by Rs40
COLOMBO : Prima Ceylon (Pvt) Limited has increased the price of wheat flour by Rs. 40.00 per kilogram.
The company previously raised the wheat flour prices on the 19th of April this year.
Jagath sworn in as MP
COLOMBO: Jagath Samarawickrama was sworn in as a Member of Parliament on Thursday May 19, in the presence of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.
The Election Commission gazetted the name of Jagath Samarawickrema for the Polonnaruwa District Parliamentary seat vacated by the sudden death of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Parliamentarian Amarakeerthi Athukorala.
Police grill 3 parliamentarians on violence against protesters
COLOMBO: COLOMBO (News 1st); Detectives from Sri Lanka’s Criminal Investigations Department recorded statements from several MPs with regard to the attacks on the GotaGoGama & MynaGoGama peaceful protest sites in Colombo.
Accordingly, MPs Rohitha Abeygunawardena, C. B. Ratnayake, and Sanjeewa Edirimanne, all from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, had provided statements to detectives.
SSP Nihal Thalduwa, the Police Spokesperson, speaking to News 1st said that statements are to be rcorded from another 4 MPs.
Detectives said they will be recording statements from seven Parliamentarians on Wednesday (18) with regard to the attacks on peaceful protests at the GotaGoGama and MynaGoGama protest sites on the 9th of May 2022.
