COLOMBO :As the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Sri Lanka, I would like to extend my best wishes for the forthcoming 2023.
In 2023 Türkiye will be celebrating the centenary of the foundation of the Republic, while Sri
Lanka will commemorate the 75th year of its independence. Let us also remember that the Republic of Türkiye was one of the first countries to recognize the independence of the then Ceylon in 1948.
Since then Türkiye and Sri Lanka traditionally enjoy cordial and friendly relations, based on mutual respect. They have been supporting each other during their difficult times. As reliable partners, the collaboration of the two countries in the international organizations has also been remarkable so far.
In the aftermath of the covid-19 pandemic and a challenging economic crisis that hit Sri Lanka, we hope to rejuvenate mutual visits and contacts to further enhance the relations between our countries. We are also looking forward to celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of our diplomatic relations in a manner befitting our relations.
In this context, I sincerely wish the government and the people of this friendly nation, peace and prosperity at the dawn of 2023.
