Netherlands to exchange maritime expertise with Lanka

COLOMBO : Netherlands Ambassador Tanja Gongrig paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa at the  Temple Trees on Thursday. 

Expressing her congratulations on the General Election victory, the Netherlands Ambassador commended Sri Lanka’s efforts on successfully mitigating the COVID-19 Pandemic. 

The Prime Minister, who looked into the Netherlands specialists onboard the MT New Diamond oil vessel, told the Ambassador that it is important to implement a training program between the two countries’ maritime experts.

Accordingly, the Netherlands delegation agreed to provide the knowledge of Netherlands maritime experts with vast historical experience to Sri Lankan maritime experts.

The Netherlands currently supports a number of other projects in Sri Lanka, including the construction of hospitals and bridges, vocational training and a long-term project in Jaffna in provididing drinking water and better irrigation for the region.

The two parties  also discussed on future cooperation between the service sector and the integrated multi-crop agriculture.
