On this day, we solemnly remember the innocent lives lost and the countless individuals affected by this senseless act of violence.

The Easter Sunday attacks of April 21, 2019, shook our nation to its core and left scars that continue to resonate within our communities. The coordinated bombings targeted churches and hotels, intending to instill fear and division among our people.

As we reflect on this tragic anniversary, we pay tribute to the victims and their families, whose lives were forever changed by this heinous act. We stand in solidarity with those who continue to mourn their loved ones and offer our unwavering support to those who were injured or traumatized by the events of that fateful day.

In the face of adversity, Sri Lankans demonstrated resilience, unity, and compassion, coming together to rebuild and heal the wounds inflicted by terrorism. The spirit of solidarity displayed in the aftermath of the attacks serves as a testament to the strength and determination of our nation.

While we commemorate this solemn anniversary, we also reaffirm our commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms. We stand united in our resolve to safeguard the peace, stability, and prosperity of our beloved country.

As we honor the memory of the victims, let us renew our dedication to building a future where such atrocities have no place. Together, let us work towards a more peaceful and inclusive society, where all individuals can live free from fear and discrimination.
