COLOMBO – The launching of the Solar Power Projects was held at the Muslim Ladies College, Colombo 4 on Wednesday January 3. It was held under the patronage of Principal of the College Mrs. Nasriya Munas.
The solar power system was handed over to principal Mrs. Nasriya Munas by the Past Pupils Association of the school.
Embarking the journey into a new era with green energy, the Past Pupils’ Association of the school has been a great strength in bringing the dreams come true. Solar project was one of the projects planned for the year 2023 at the annual plan of the Past Pupils Association of the school with a vision of inculcating the values for natural resources and environmental sustainability. Upon securing funding, energetic Vice President of the Association Mrs. Feroza Muzammil was successful in brinringing a donor through her known contacts. The successful donar was Ahamed Shyam Mohamed, a Maldivian businessman, to provide sustainable solution for the electricity needs of the school with the Solar power project.
The project implementation was chaired by Mrs. Zaharine Rahaman Hameen supported by each and every executive member of the committee while M. M. Fazeel, Physics teacher, provided the technical guidance.
The whole school community is indeed appreciating the timely efforts taken by the Past Pupils Association and this initiation is a very good example towards creating environment friendly and sustainable development concepts around.
Deputy Principals Mrs. Rasmiya Aboobucker, Mrs. Akeeda Nuhaman , Assistant Principals W.C.K. Botheju, Farisa Nizam, School Development Society Secretary J.A. Nazeer, Members of the Executive of the PPA and SDS, Teachers and Students were present.
