COLOMBO :In a heartwarming show of support, Lions International District 306-B1 in Sri Lanka, together with their partner Multilac, recently gifted essential cricket gear to the Sri Lankan Visually Impaired National Cricket Team.
This donation, made on November 3 at the Nondescripts Cricket Club (NCC) grounds, aimed to empower the team as they prepare for the T20 World Cup in Pakistan later this month. The gathering brought together team members, Lions leadership, representatives from Multilac, families, and supporters, celebrating this significant step in the team’s journey to compete on the world stage.
Known for its dedication to community initiatives, Multilac was proud to partner with Lions for this cause. “We believe in supporting our communities, and this partnership with Lions is one way we can give back meaningfully,” enlightened Nilrukshi De Silva, Senior Vice President, Macksons Paints Lanka Pvt Ltd. The event was graced by Sajjaad Saliheen and Ismail Hussain, the Chief Operating Officers, Macksons Paints Lanka Pvt Ltd, who has been behind enabling this collaboration.

Sudesh Tharanga, President of the Sri Lanka Cricket Association of the Visually Handicapped, has been a dedicated leader committed to empowering visually impaired cricketers and fostering inclusivity within Sri Lanka’s sports community.
Chandana Deshappriya Captain of Sri Lanka National Blind Cricket Team, speaking on behalf of his teammates, comments, “This gift shows us that our country is behind us. We’re ready to represent Sri Lanka, knowing our Lions family and supporters are cheering us on.” With support from Lions District 306-B1, Multilac, and countless fans, Sri Lanka’s visually impaired cricketers are ready to take on the T20 World Cup.
