COLOMBO : Minister of Primary Health Services, Pandemics and COVID Prevention Dr. Sudharshani Fernandopulle yesterday said that there is no need to hit the panic button over false reports claiming adverse reactions to the Oxford-AstraZeneca Covishield vaccine.
The State Minister urged the people to get the vaccine without any fear to support the country’s drive to combat COVID-19.
Dr. Fernandopulle further stated that over 200,000 people have already got the vaccine and no adverse effects had been reported so far.
The Minister said that the vaccination of the public against COVID-19 commenced in Colombo. The persons vaccinated will include those who interact closely with the public in the Western Province.
Speaking to the media, Acting Minister of Health Prof. Channa Jayasumana stated that 27,018 vaccinations will be carried out in the Colombo District, while 17,622 in the Gampaha District and 11,710 in the Kalutara District.
