COLOMBO : Eid-ul-Fitr is one of the major religious festivals of 1.6 billion Muslims around the world. This Eid brings immense joy and happiness after a month of fasting and self-restraint. This joy and happiness are to be shared and spread out among all communities irrespective of religious affiliation, caste and creed. It’s the time to rejuvenate the bonds of friendship and empathy. Eid is a reminder to the affluent to extend their generosity to the less privileged and to embrace humanity with the universal spirit of compassion and togetherness.
On this auspicious occasion, I pray to the Almighty for self-purification, restraint, peace, prosperity and harmony for the entire humanity particularly for the friendly people of Sri Lanka.
