Message from Omar Lebbe Ameer Ajwad Former Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Sultanate of Oman

COLOMBO : I have the honour to extend my warmest greetings on the occasion of the 52nd National Day of the Sultanate of Oman.

Links between Sri Lanka and the Sultanate of Oman date back to the mists of history. The establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries have served as a catalyst to enhance and diversify the relations to encompass a wide range of areas over the past four decades. Both countries commemorated the 40th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two countries  in February 2021 which had provided an opportunity to take stock of the progress made and to plan for the future. The recently published book on “Sri Lanka -Oman Relations: Past, Present and Future “ is a testament to this effect. It was my great privilege to author this book by providing some thoughts from my experience for further consolidating the bilateral cooperation in the years ahead.

I recollect and cherish the great memories of hospitality, helpfulness and warmth of the friendly people of Oman as the immediate former Sri Lanka’s Envoy to the Sultanate. On this auspicious occasion, I wish to extend my best wishes to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Government and the people of the Sultanate of Oman for their continued progress and prosperity in the years ahead.

Long live Sri Lanka and Oman Relations!
