Message from His Excellency Ibrahim Mohamed Solih President of the Republic of Maldives

As the people of the Maldives celebrate the auspicious occasion of the 58th Anniversary of Independence, it gives me great joy to convey my warmest greetings and sincere good wishes to all Maldivians residing in Sri Lanka.

This year also marks the 58th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with Sri Lanka. Therefore, I take this opportunity to convey warm felicitations and sincere greetings to the Government of Sri Lanka and its very friendly and hospitable people, with whom we enjoy enduring and close relations.
I would also like to express our gratitude to President Honourable Ranil Wickremesinghe, the Government and the people of Sri Lanka for their unrelenting support and assistance for the kind consideration towards the welfare of Maldivians residing in Sri Lanka.

The Maldives has always been able to count on Sri Lanka as a trusted friend and partner on our development journey, even pre-dating our independence from the British. The people-to-people contact between our
countries is deep-rooted and ancient. In recent years, the bilateral relations between our countries have been greatly elevated by engagements at all levels, including through the exchange of high-level visits and dialogue.

Let me once again convey my warmest Independence Day greetings to all Maldivians residing in Sri Lanka. I wish for the continued happiness and prosperity for all Maldivians and the friendly people of Sri Lanka
