COLOMBO: On the auspicious occasion of the beginning of the holy month of Muharram and the Islamic Year, I pray to Almighty Allah for the peace and prosperity of the Muslim Ummah particularly, our Muslim brothers and sisters in Sri Lanka. May Allah accept our prayers, relieve us of our sins, and allow us to lead our lives according to the teachings of Islam. May we be able to learn from the sacrifices made by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his family members and exercise those in our lives. I wish the friendly people of Sri Lanka a blessed Islamic New Year!
