COLOMBO : On the occasion of the advent of the blessed month of Ramadan, I would like to congratulate you all and myself on attaining the month of mercy and forgiveness, the holy month in which good deeds are multiplied, mistakes are forgiven, and the greatest joy is recalled with the revelation of Al-Quran the Great Book of Almighty God.
This is the first Ramadan that I am spending in the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, and I beseech the Almighty God to bring this holy month, in its shadows, mercy and safety to everyone, and to bring back to us for many years and long times, and to bestow it blessings, and to grant everyone success in fasting and perform prayers during this holy month and accept their deeds.
