COLOMBO : Those who brought the pristine teachings of the enlightened Buddha to the attention of the world through the medium of Cinema 10 years ago, namely the award winning cinematic classic ‘Sri Siddhartha Gautama, is all set to embark on the next Hollywood production, ‘Enlightened One -The Buddha’ which will feature from renunciation to the first sermon of the noble enlightened path of the Buddha.
The three Principal partners of this noble venture, Chairman Light of Asia Foundation and Radiance films International (Pvt) Ltd., Navin Gunaratna, Popular singer domiciled in Australia, Alston Koch and the famous Indian film star Gagan Malik who starred in the ‘Sri Siddhartha Gautama’ is set to launch the making of this new Hollywood Production this week.
They are renowned for their quality film production ‘Sri Siddhartha Gautama’ which won many accolades and awards at the prestigious Delhi International Film Festival for Best Film World Cinema and at the UN International Vesak Buddhist Film festival, will undertake the pre-production, post production and production respectively.
The week’s series of events to mark the special occasion of the launch of the new film will commence fittingly with the screening of their first award winning film Tuesday (19th Sept) at the Light of Asia Centre in Pelewatte.
The film ‘Sri Siddhartha Gautama’ when it debuted 10 years ago was screened continuously for 125 days breaking all Box Office Records in the history of the Cinema Industry in Sri Lanka. The dedication to portray the teachings of the enlightened through this cinematic classic produced in 2013 is evident.
The Sri Lanka Buddhist Institutions and Corporates now have the unique opportunity of joining hands with the new monumental endeavor of the Light of Asia Foundation which aims to alleviate Sri Lanka‘s role as the repository of the Buddha Dhamma for centuries, and deliver its’ essence to the entire Global Community at a critical time when the world is embroiled in much conflict.
