MUSCAT : The Sri Lanka Embassy in Oman arranged donation of ICU beds to treat COVID Patients in Sri Lanka
On an appeal made by Sri Lanka Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman Ameer Ajwad to the Sri Lankan community in Oman, the staff of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Oman, Sri Lankan professionals in banking sector and Sri Lankan Quantity Surveyors Fraternity serving in Oman donated five numbers of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds for treating COVID patients in Sri Lanka.
The five beds were handed by the Foreign Secretary Admiral Prof. Jayanath Colambage to State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Prof. Channa Jayasumana and Secretary of the State Ministry Dr. R.M.S.K. Rathnayake.
The ICU beds will be delivered to five Government hospitals in different parts of Sri Lanka namely, Base Hospitals in Padaviya, Nuwara Eliya, Mahiyanganaya, Batticaloa and Mulativu.
Ambassador Ameer Ajwad extended his sincere appreciation to the Sri Lankan professional community in Oman for this generous gesture in caring the fellow citizens back home at this need of the hour during the challenging time due to the pandemic. Ambassador expressed his special thanks to Mr. Lalith Kumara of the Central Bank of the Sultanate of Oman and the President of Sri Lankan Quantity Surveyors Fraternity in Oman Ravindra Gallangoda for coordinating the donations from Sri Lankan professionals in the banking sector as well as the Quantity Surveyors Fraternity in the Sultanate of Oman. Ambassador also expressed his appreciation to the Sri Lankan Community Club in Oman for their support to the Embassy.
