COLOMBO : Justice Minister Ali Sabry and a number of Muslim organizations have condemned the terrorist attack in New Zealand and they were also appreciative of the unbiased stance taken by the Auckland government in dealing with the tragedy on Friday, September 3. In a comment made in his FB, Justice Minister Sabry said he was shocked and saddened to hear of the terrorist attack in Auckland, New Zealand.
Minister Sabry said :“I condemn this senseless and cowardly act of violence driven by what is reported as extremist ideology. Extremism in all forms has no place in today’s world and will only serve to further divide and harm all of us if it’s not eradicated, and I hope we can continue to root it out wherever in the world it may arise. My thoughts are with the victims and their families at this difficult time.”
Expressing shock and dismay, Foreign Ministry spokesman Sugeeswara Gunaratne said that the Government of Sri Lanka has learnt of the terrorist attack by an individual in a supermarket in Auckland, New Zealand on Friday, injuring several persons.
“While commending the quick response of the New Zealand authorities in dealing with this attacker,Sri Lanka wishes a speedy recovery to those injured during the horrific incident. Sri Lanka condemns this senseless violence, and stands ready to cooperate with New Zealand authorities in any way necessary,” Gunaratne said.
The All Ceylon YMMA Conference has expressed its deep shock and grief by the barbaric and cowardly terrorist act in Auckland, New Zealand . A message from Saheed M. Rismy its National President said :“ We condemn the brutal attack and we express our deepest condolences and our sympathies to the affected families.
We also express our full and unconditional support and solidarity to the New Zealand Government and the people in their efforts to maintain an open, pluralistic, democratic society, which guarantees and protects the fundamental values and principles of all people. Religious Leaders Ven. Dr. Angrahare Kassapa Nayaka Thera, Dr. Babusharma Ramachandran Kurukkal, Moulavi As-Seyyed Dr. Hassan Moulana and Rev. Dr. Sextus Kurukulasuriya had strongly condemned this heinous act of terrorism. “We are hereby extremely disappointed to hear the pathetic news about the terror attack which took place at Auckland.“Our humble request to the entire nation is to act with kindness and respect every human life as it is one of the God given ultimate treasures, anyone can never think of having it again when it is too late,” they said.(Daily News)
