COLOMBO: Minister of Justice Ali Sabry has been requested by the cabinet at its last meeting to help form a committee and set up guidelines to draft a new constitution for the Sri Lankan nation,Cabinet spokesman Udaya Gamanpilla told newsmen during the weekly briefing on Wednesday.
Cabinet Minister of Justice Mohammed Ali Sabry has been vested with power to tender nominations for the appointment of an experts committee for drafting a new Constitution.
Accordingly, the names of the committee members will be tabled in the Cabinet in the future, he added.
On Wednesday (19), Sabry has also been vested with the full power to draft the 20th Amendment to Constitution and table it before the Cabinet, the Co Cabinet Spokesman further disclosed.
