COLOMBO :Son of Arumugam Thondaman, Jeevan was unanimously elected General Secretary of the Ceylon Workers Congress (CWC) by its politbureau on Wednesday June 17.
Late Arumugam Thondaman was the CWC Leader and Minister of Community Empowerment and Estate Infrastructure Development.Jeevan has been nominated to contest the upcoming general elections in place of his late father.
The unanimous decision was reached during a meeting of CWC politburo held at the party headquarters in Kotagala, Hatton.
It was also decided to appoint Anusha Sivarajah, who had served as the party’s General Secretary, as the Vice Chairman.
The CWC has to appoint its leader yet.
